Everything a batch needs, from the box to the buyer.
Batchwell is organized the way a small workroom is: the bench, the stock room, the sales table and the folder of records you hope nobody asks for. Here's what each one does today.
At the bench
Run a batch from your phone while your hands are busy.
- Recipes with dated versions
- Change a recipe and the old version stays, with its date. Every batch remembers which version it was made from.
- Weigh-in, scaled to any batch size
- Pick a batch size and every ingredient gets a target weight and a tolerance. Enter what the scale says and you see straight away if you're over or under.
- Step timers and temperatures
- Tick off steps as you go, start a timer when a step needs one, and log temperatures where they matter.
- Keeps saving if the signal drops
- Lose signal mid-batch and keep going. Weights, step ticks, temperatures and notes are saved on your phone and sent when you're back online.
In the stock room
Know what you have, what it cost, and what runs out next.
- Receive a whole box at once
- Enter every item on the invoice and the one freight charge. Batchwell splits the freight across the items to the cent, so each lot carries its real landed cost.
- Ingredient and packaging lots
- Each lot keeps its supplier, its cost and its paperwork. Attach the certificate of analysis and the safety data sheet where you'll find them again.
- Shelf counts and starting stock
- Enter what you already have when you start, then count shelves from your phone whenever you like.
- Market planning and shortage warnings
- Plan what to make and what to pull for an upcoming market. Batchwell warns you about anything that will run short while there's still time to order.
When you sell
Price from real numbers, not guesses.
- Cost per unit, for every batch
- Ingredients at their landed cost, packaging and your labor, worked out for the batch you actually made.
- Margins by channel
- See what each unit leaves you at your online, market and wholesale prices.
- Shopify order import
- Export your orders from Shopify as a CSV and import the file. Batchwell matches each line to your products, skips refunded and cancelled orders, and counts line discounts.
- Finished stock by product, size and lot
- Know how many of each size you have on the shelf, and which lot they came from.
Today Shopify orders come in from the CSV export. Live connections to Shopify and other places you sell are planned.
On paper when it counts
The records an inspector, a certifier or a worried customer will ask for.
- A lot code on every batch
- Codes follow your own prefix, so they read like yours.
- Trace in both directions
- From any lot, go back to the supplier lots that went in, or forward to the orders and markets its batches most likely went to. Sales count against the oldest released lot rather than being recorded lot by lot, which is why the forward trail says most likely.
- Quarantine a lot
- A quarantined lot can't be weighed into a new batch until you release it.
- Brand rules
- Set a brand to vegan only, or to cruelty-free suppliers only. Lots from suppliers who declined your declaration are kept out of that brand's batches.
- Fill checks
- Weigh finished units. The average has to meet the declared net weight and no unit can fall below 97% of it. The result is saved with the batch.
- Customer complaint log
- Log a complaint or reaction against the batch it's about, so it lives with the rest of that batch's record.
Around the whole workroom
- Several brands, one workspace
- Each brand gets its own lot code prefix and its own rules.
- People with roles
- Bring in a partner or helper as an owner, admin, maker or viewer, each with their own sign-in.
- No passwords
- Sign in with your email and a 6-digit code.
- Your records, any time
- Download them as spreadsheets, one per kind of record, or as one full backup file.
- Phone first
- Works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. The iPhone app is on its way to the App Store. Until then, add batchwell.app to your home screen.
